This is Takazudo Modular Highlights vol.2 (distributed June 8, 2024).

This is an archive of the newsletter sent through our Mercari Shops. While we call it an archive, the Mercari newsletter has various limitations, so this is an optimized article for the web.

Here are the contents of Vol.2.

Since our last newsletter was in March, this covers updates from April through May.

ADDAC System Restocked & New Products Added

Several sold-out ADDAC System products have been restocked, and we've added new products as well. What we carry from ADDAC System isn't necessarily their latest releases — we're gradually adding products from their existing lineup. The selection is centered on basic modules chosen by Takazudo, and we've prepared fairly detailed descriptions for each, so please check them out.

The restocked items are modules that customers purchased after we started carrying ADDAC System. They're all useful, and ADDAC112 VC Looper & Granular Processor in particular is quite a unique module and a granular processor worth exploring in depth. I've also written a detailed article, so please give it a read.

Among the newly added products, most are basic modules, but ADDAC210 Open Heart Surgery is a specialized module for module developers. I actually stocked this because I wanted it myself, but I think it's a very interesting module for anyone who does their own development.

Weston Precision Audio Now Available

We've started carrying Weston Precision Audio modules, and the full inventory has been added to the shop!

Originally, Takazudo Modular planned to buy DIY kits from this brand, build them ourselves, and sell them. However, Devin (the maker) wanted the build quality and the value of each unit being hand-crafted to be part of the product's worth, so we agreed to sell built units instead.

Once the products arrived, I immediately understood what Devin meant. Weston Precision Audio modules are all built with carefully selected materials, each one assembled with great attention to detail. Anyone who's bought various modules will probably notice right away.

For example, cheaper panels are often made from FR-4, the same material used for PCBs, but with more investment, you get options like aluminum. Weston Precision Audio panels have a smooth surface finish on metal, giving them a premium feel. The panels and PCBs are likely intentionally made thicker for a solid, substantial feel. They even include washers between every nut, use switches that give a distinct tactile feedback, and many other thoughtful details.

Currently, the product descriptions are rough translations from the official website, but we plan to update them one by one as we verify each module's operation.

Acrylic Modular Cases and Blank Panels Now Available

Additionally, I, Takazudo, have started selling some blank panels and acrylic modular cases that I made as a hobby.

The acrylic modular cases come in two types: one with high-quality rails, and another designed to fit TipTop Audio Z-Rails 84HP dimensions. If you're starting out with modular synths or want to add to your existing setup, please consider them.

We plan to send one more newsletter update this month. And just between us, it seems Mercari Shops will be running another 10% off sale this month. When that happens, currently listed products will again be 10% off. Mercari Shops is quite generous...! The next newsletter will probably go out around that timing. Stay tuned.

See you next time.
