This is Takazudo Modular Highlights vol.8 (distributed August 28, 2024).
This is an archive of the newsletter sent through our Mercari Shops. While we call it an archive, the Mercari newsletter has various limitations, so this is an optimized article for the web.
Here are the contents of Vol.8.

ADDAC System DIY Kit New Arrivals
We've stocked 5 new types of ADDAC System DIY kits:
- ADDAC203 REV.02 DIY Kit CV Mapping
- ADDAC305 DIY Kit Manual Latches
- ADDAC304 DIY Kit Manual Gates
- ADDAC215 DIY Kit Dual S&H+
- ADDAC713 DIY Kit Stereo Discrete Mixer
Among these, ADDAC713 DIY Kit Stereo Discrete Mixer is a DIY kit for a module we don't yet carry as a built unit. We plan to carry the built version in the future, but we've stocked the DIY kit first. The other four types are also available as built units.
All of these are modules with basic functions, composed of relatively large components for DIY kits. They're recommended even for those just starting out with DIY, so please check them out if you're interested.
Let me briefly introduce each module.
ADDAC203 REV.02 DIY Kit CV Mapping
ADDAC203 REV.02 DIY Kit CV Mapping is a module with 2 channels of CV Attenuverter with Offset. The Offset can be adjusted via a knob, and there's also a dedicated Offset input jack. This means it can also be used simply to mix two CVs together, making it an extremely versatile module.
It's convenient when you want to adjust or combine the output of envelope generators, LFOs, or sequencers — the kind of module you'd want placed throughout your system. To be honest, I stocked these partly because I wanted more for myself. Highly recommended!
ADDAC305 DIY Kit Manual Latches
ADDAC305 DIY Kit Manual Latches is a module that outputs a fixed CV via ON/OFF toggle-type buttons.
The function is very simple, but with just this you can switch CV or audio signals on and off, enabling ideas like per-part muting, modulation ON/OFF, and various other patching concepts.
ADDAC304 DIY Kit Manual Gates
ADDAC304 DIY Kit Manual Gates is a module that, unlike ADDAC305's toggle buttons, outputs CV only while the button is pressed.
It's useful for sending one-shot gates, applying modulation for brief moments, or controlling output CV in combination with ADDAC203 REV.02 DIY Kit CV Mapping — another highly versatile module.
ADDAC215 DIY Kit Dual S&H+
ADDAC215 DIY Kit Dual S&H+ is a 2-channel Sample & Hold. However, it also offers 2-channel mixing and slew, making it a multi-function utility module centered around Sample & Hold.
It should be a strong contender when you want to incorporate Sample & Hold into your system.
ADDAC713 DIY Kit Stereo Discrete Mixer
ADDAC713 DIY Kit Stereo Discrete Mixer is a compact stereo mixer. However, it also features a powerful distortion, making it a module that feels like a bonus regardless of which function you're using it for.
Since applying effects often results in stereo output, this module has wide utility. This is actually another one I, Takazudo, stocked because I personally wanted it...
In terms of DIY difficulty, all of these should be beginner-friendly. Among these five, the following two have more components. Please take care to ensure correct component orientation when building:
- ADDAC215 DIY Kit Dual S&H+
- ADDAC713 DIY Kit Stereo Discrete Mixer
The other three are mostly complete once you attach the jacks and potentiometers (knobs), making them great for those thinking of giving it a try over the weekend.
That's all for this newsletter.
We've also prepared a DIY beginner's guide on our website, so please check it out if you're interested.
See you next time.
