External CV control is also possible. CV input has been expanded from 1 to 2 compared to the original OXI ONE.

Multi-track

Supports up to 8 independent tracks with customizable parameters per track. Expandable to 64 tracks.

Chord

Rich chord progressions with diverse chord types and voicings, chromatic mode, and custom scales.

Poly

Polyphonic sequencing with up to 7 voices. Dynamic editing with per-note probability and logic conditions.

Mono

Full control over monophonic tracks. Complex melody construction using the Accumulator.

Stochastic

Generate evolving, varied melodies while precisely controlling rhythm and pitch.

Matriceal

An experimental mode with 4 independent lanes for individually controlling velocity, octave, and note. A uniquely free-form approach, like operating a modular synthesizer.

Deepen Harmony with Chord Mode

OXI ONE MKII's Chord mode features an intuitive menu with various chord types, voicings, and bass options, enabling smooth chord progression construction. Rather than requiring complex music theory knowledge, it lets you feel out chords experientially.

Using the built-in Chord Arpeggiator, you can turn individual chords into richer, more dynamic phrases. Create deep soundscapes from simple inputs.

In addition to Chord mode's basic functions, the Harmonizer automatically maintains harmonic consistency with other tracks, creating a natural cohesion across the entire piece. You can also add variations to chord tracks through LFOs, modulation lanes, and external CV, fully leveraging the capabilities of linked external gear.

Takazudo's Personal Impressions

The following are my personal thoughts as Takazudo.

The original OXI ONE was the first product our shop carried, and I've personally been using two OXI ONEs continuously since then. The MKII strikes me as a genuine evolution of the original.

The OXI ONE Sequencer

OXI ONE photo

I believe OXI ONE is essentially a sequencer that uses an 8x32 pad grid and implements every conceivable function for it. This is possible entirely thanks to OXI Instruments' development capabilities — or more precisely, the genius of Manuel, the single developer who has been building OXI ONE. In my experience, these kinds of devices are often created by a single exceptional person. (Reference: Perfect Circuit Interview)

When thinking about what to add to such a device, what do you rely on? For OXI Instruments, the answer is clearly community feedback. Their Discord server has over 2,000 members, and what's impressive is that they address feedback and suggestions one by one.

I once heard during our ordering communications that they compile feedback from Discord into a Google Spreadsheet and address items one by one. This is not something easily done, even as part of your job. OXI ONE's significantly increased recognition today is the result of this continuous accumulation of improvements.

In terms of hardware interface, at first glance it might seem like only a few buttons have been added compared to the original. But I'm confident that those changes reflect the feedback collected over time. The original OXI ONE is already a 4-year-old product (2021), and considering the time that has passed, the hardware evolution is significant. MKII is the 2025 edition of OXI ONE, with carefully considered UI evolution built in.

About the Original OXI ONE

That said, does this mean the original OXI ONE is now obsolete? Not at all. First, based on official FAQ conversations in OXI's Discord, they stated that alongside MKII updates, they will continue to update the original OXI ONE's firmware as much as the hardware performance allows.

OXI ONE photo

Based on my developer's intuition, I imagine both the original and MKII likely run on the same microcontroller platform — think of it as the same OS. If so, the only features you'd miss on the original would be those tied to MKII's new physical buttons, and everything else would likely continue to receive updates.

Furthermore, from my experience actually using OXI ONE, while MKII has improved hardware performance, I imagine very few people have ever experienced the original hitting performance limits.

Perhaps some people running massive MIDI sequences have encountered such issues, but I personally use 4 parts for drums, several sequence lines, the harmonizer feature at full capacity, and fully utilize both CV and Gate outputs — and I've never experienced a freeze or delay. So for MKII's performance improvements, think of it as More is MORE — more is always better.

As a Second OXI ONE

For those thinking "I just bought an OXI ONE" or "I already have one" — what I'd personally recommend is the option of MKII as a second OXI ONE. I use two OXI ONEs myself, and having two provides considerable expandability.

This might be obvious to modular synth users, but when doing live performance-type work, in the modular world it's normal to have as many sequences, switches, and CV controllers as you want. From that perspective, OXI ONE is simply one sequencer, and having two to operate independently is perfectly useful.

For example, you could keep drum sequences running on one while running 2-3 melodic sequences on the other. Conversely, trying to do everything on a single OXI ONE requires rapidly switching between parts.

In the modular synth context, adding another sequencer to the mix is a viable option — that's my impression as someone who uses two. (Usually I test various modules and make videos, in which case I use just one.)

I realize recommending two units in a product introduction might seem a bit much. But in any case, for those looking for a great sequencer, I believe OXI ONE MKII will continue to grow as a leading choice.

That concludes the OXI ONE MKII introduction.

Given the nature of the product, we often receive questions after purchase. We get the impression that many customers use it not only with modular synths but also to control other gear via MIDI.
