A Spatial Effect Module Integrating Delay and Reverb
Motion Pictures is a 10HP effect module that combines Delay and Reverb in a single unit, featuring external clock sync and extensive CV control for flexible design.
The Delay section is dual mono, with Delay Time controllable via knob, tap tempo, external clock, and CV input. The output delay is based on a single time setting. Two delay types are available with different sonic characters: "Digital" and "Analog." Digital mode delivers clear, edgy repeats, while Analog mode switches to a classic analog circuit-style delay.
The Reverb section supports stereo output, adding depth and width to the sound. It also has a dedicated knob and CV input for level adjustment, supporting real-time control during performance. The Reverb is connected in series after the Delay, so input audio passes through the Delay processing first before reaching the Reverb.
Each effect parameter has its own dedicated knob and CV input, enabling external CV control of Delay Time, Feedback, Delay Level, and Reverb Level. This allows for dynamic effect generation using modulation sources and flexible response to changes during performance.
My Take on Motion Pictures
The first thing that makes Motion Pictures useful is that it covers both Delay and Reverb in a single module. Personally, when working with modular, I ultimately mix tracks through a small mixer, and I apply a touch of Reverb, Delay, and Chorus to each track. It's not something I consciously plan; I just always have them ready and make subtle adjustments.
In the real world, any sound produced exists in a space with surrounding walls that create reflections, so Reverb and Delay are arguably more natural to have than not. Simply put, a little Reverb or Delay tends to make things sound right, though this depends on the style of music. Having Reverb and Delay combined in one unit makes this a versatile module with plenty of opportunities to be useful.
Additionally, the ability to sync to an external clock is a significant advantage. If you prefer beat-oriented music, creating delays that perfectly match the tempo is, in my opinion, quite important. However, many affordable Delay modules don't support clock sync, while more feature-rich delays can be quite expensive. Having clock sync capability at this price point while also including Reverb is a definite selling point.
Furthermore, the fact that most parameters are controllable via external CV is a welcome feature. One of the joys of modular synthesis is feeding high-speed LFOs, audio signals, or envelopes into these CV inputs to explore sounds on your own. With this module, sending various signals to the Delay Time or Feedback inputs will almost certainly yield unexpectedly interesting effects.
In this way, it's a module I'd recommend as one you can't go wrong having — combining broad practical utility with genuine modular character. You can never have too many Delays or Reverbs. Whether you want to apply effects only to the hi-hat or only to the kick, this module's size is just right for expanding your effect chain.

Additionally, below is a video I recorded using Motion Pictures. I'm feeding B2 Kick and ADDAC104 VC T-Networks through Motion Pictures, applying Delay and Reverb. Since it's clock-synced, you can see the Delay stays in time with the BPM even as the Delay Time changes.
