This is Takazudo Modular Highlights vol.1 (distributed March 22, 2024).

We decided to start sending regular updates from Takazudo Modular, so we'll be publishing them as articles. This content was originally sent via the newsletter feature on our Mercari Shops, but as of April 2024, it appears only customers who have purchased from our shop can receive it. So we'll also archive it on our website. Think of it as a small perk where purchasers get the news slightly earlier.

With that said, here are the contents of Vol.1.

Hello, this is Takazudo Modular. We've decided to call this newsletter "Takazudo Modular Highlights." Not sure how frequently we'll send it though...

Along with that, here's an update on products stocked from March through April.

OXI Instruments: OXI ONE Restocked

OXI ONE from OXI Instruments, for which we received several restock notification requests, will arrive this week.

We've been trying to keep OXI ONE in stock at all times, but we haven't been able to restock for about 2 months. The reason is that OXI ONE has become very popular and OXI Instruments has been unable to keep up with production. Their April production run was fully reserved and sold out. Since we placed our reservation in early March, they secured our allocation.

OXI Coral, which also sold out quickly during the last restock, will also be restocked. Since the next restock may be delayed if it sells out again, please consider this opportunity.

The products are already available for purchase on our shop page. They're expected to arrive this week and will be shipped immediately upon arrival.

AI Synthesis Now Available

We've started carrying the American brand AI Synthesis. AI Synthesis offers a lineup of simple, practical, basic modules. For this initial stock, we brought in several items including DIY kits.

AI Synthesis puts a strong emphasis on user education and DIY support, providing detailed DIY guides for every module. Basically, all you need is a soldering iron and solder. DIY kits are more affordable, and there's the joy of building something yourself.

If you have any questions about DIY, feel free to ask on our Discord channel! (I'm not an extreme expert myself, but still.)

Meng Qi: Honey Arrival

We've stocked Honey, a compact standalone device from Meng Qi. At the time of writing this newsletter, we haven't been able to record a sample video yet, but it's based on the concept of Bytebeat and produces fascinating noise sounds. The concept of Bytebeat itself is quite interesting, and we've introduced it in the product description, so please check it out.

Regarding Wingie2 restock requests we've received — Meng Qi plans to manufacture more in June, so we expect to restock around June-July.

Divergent Waves: Sycamore Now Available

We've stocked Sycamore, a modular synth module from Divergent Waves. This one was DIY-built by Takazudo. (The Divergent Waves developer is on their Discord, and we build while exchanging feedback.)

Sycamore is a random loop sequencer — essentially a module that combines random loop CV generation with a quantizer and sample & hold.

The renowned Mutable Instruments has published cancelled projects — ideas that reached a certain stage but were never completed. Sycamore is a significantly expanded implementation of one such project, Seeds (2015). I personally find it quite fascinating and highly practical. If you're interested, please check it out.

Blank Panel Manufacturing

Recently, as something of a hobby, I've been trying my hand at making blank panels and such. Starting from mid-month, I've been including a bonus 10HP PCB panel with every product shipped. It's the one shown in the photo.

I also tried making PCB panels from fluorescent acrylic board — the leftmost one in the photo. This is still a prototype limited edition, so I'll be including them as shipping bonuses for the next 9 orders, first come first served. Feel free to use them!

When I put it all together in writing, there are quite a few shop updates. More updates are planned for May and June as well. Please check back again.

See you next time.
