This is Takazudo Modular Highlights vol.16 (distributed January 28, 2025).

This issue has two announcements:

  • zudo-block-60 Now Available
  • OXI Instruments Restocked

zudo-block-60 Now Available

First announcement: The acrylic modular case zudo-block-60 is now on sale.

This is the 60HP version of the 40HP modular case zudo-block-40 that launched last year. It's simply wider — everything else is the same. Available in the same 3 colors: red, green, and orange.

The zudo-block-40 was available with two side panel types (A and B), but for now, the zudo-block-60 is only available in A-type. Since the case is fundamentally the same, the key selling points remain: it's tilting and colorful. However, at 60HP you can fit a good number of modules, which makes it more practical.

Personally, my motivation for creating this case series started with wanting to combine small cases together, which is why I made the 40HP version first. But for most people, the 60HP version is probably the easier choice.

This 60HP case is priced at 20,800 yen, compared to 19,800 yen for the 40HP version — only 1,000 yen more (as of January 2025). Size-wise, this is a much better value. The price difference is actually just the shipping cost — the production cost is the same. This is because both cases are cut from the same large acrylic boards and rails, so the material costs are nearly identical.

In a world where most modular panels are black or silver, having a colorful case adds a fun touch — that's what I've felt since making them. Please consider these alongside the 40HP version.

OXI Instruments Restocked

Second announcement: OXI Instruments products have been restocked.

Our popular OXI Instruments products — OXI ONE standard/Black Edition, OXI Coral, and OXI Meta — have all been replenished.

Looking back, OXI ONE has gained considerably more recognition compared to when we first started carrying it about a year and a half ago, and the firmware has evolved significantly too. From what customers tell us, the ability to use it with both modular synths and MIDI is a major selling point. We also have just one limited Silver edition remaining, so please consider it as well.

Regarding OXI Coral, a web browser-based configuration app was recently released. This module is powerful with advanced configuration options, but navigating deep menus through button presses alone could feel quite daunting. It's great that they're providing support tools like this.

Please check them all out.

That's all for this issue.

Takazudo enjoys spicy food, and lately I've been frequently eating Matsuya's new menu item, boiled beef in chili sauce. It's intensely spicy — far beyond what you'd expect from a chain restaurant — so I'd recommend it to fellow spice lovers. It might be too much for most people though...

See you next time.
