This is Takazudo Modular Highlights vol.7 (distributed August 17, 2024).
This issue covers the launch of Olivia Artz Modular: Time Machine, OXI Instruments OXI Meta now available, and OXI Coral restocked.
Olivia Artz Modular: Time Machine Now Available
In late July, we started carrying the Time Machine module from a brand called Olivia Artz Modular.
Time Machine is a unique DSP effect module based on a clock-syncable 8-tap stereo delay. As its visual interface suggests, you can intuitively build delay patterns. By shortening the delay period extremely, you can achieve reverb or flanger-like effects. By lengthening the period and increasing feedback, even a single mono synth can create chord-like layered sounds — making it an incredibly versatile module.
You likely already have an image of what delay processing sounds like, but this module will give you the realization that spatial effects like reverb are fundamentally related to delay in their underlying mechanics.
Time Machine launched on Kickstarter in 2023 and reached its funding goal within 48 hours, successfully making it to production. DivKid, a prominent figure in the modular synth community, voluntarily created a video introducing Time Machine, showing just how much attention this module has received.
Olivia Artz Modular had been reaching out to us via X DMs for some time, expressing their desire to sell in Japan, and we decided to carry their products. As of August 2024, Time Machine production hasn't caught up with demand — the only way to buy one is from the limited stock at distributors worldwide, while orders on the official website are on a waitlist. It's a highly popular module.
I, Takazudo, have personally tried the Time Machine and found it an extremely interesting module — I can easily lose track of time just playing with it. It's fascinating. If it doesn't sell, there's a high risk I'll keep one or two for myself, so please do check it out.
OXI Meta Now Available
We've started carrying the OXI Meta, a multi-effects module from OXI Instruments, first unveiled at Superbooth 2024.
OXI Meta is a live performance-oriented stereo effects module that lets you switch between 6 types of transition effects. It enables you to create the kind of dynamic builds commonly used in dance music, with high-quality effects.
While OXI Meta is a digital effects module, its UI is specifically optimized for performance, making it a ready-to-use tool. When you want to create a break-like transition, a common technique is to use a High Pass Filter to cut the low end for a while, then bring it back when the break ends. Other techniques include applying excessive reverb or delay and pulling back, or repeating short loops.
Such effects are sometimes called transition effects, and OXI Meta packages six carefully crafted transition effects into a compact 6HP module with an easy-to-use interface.
When you see it in person, you'll be surprised by how small it is. It's the kind of module you'll want to always have just before your master output. There are plenty of demo videos on YouTube, so please check it out.
OXI Coral and More Restocked
We've also restocked OXI Coral, OXI Pipe, and OXI Split from OXI Instruments.
OXI Coral is a popular module that tends to sell out quickly with each restock. Combine it with OXI ONE and experience the power of digital modules.
Since its release, OXI Coral has received active firmware updates, and now you can enjoy everything from 303-like bass to wavetable synthesis — all from this single fun module!
That's all for this newsletter.
We have more stock arriving this month and next. We'll let you know via newsletter as soon as they arrive, so please stay tuned!
See you next time.
