OXI E16 is a portable MIDI controller equipped with 16 encoders. Packed into a compact aluminum unibody, it integrates LED ring-equipped encoders and an OLED screen, enabling integrated control of modular synths, hardware synths, and DAWs.

Powerful Yet Simple MIDI Control#

With OXI E16, you can manage up to 16 scenes (7 directly accessible from the home screen, the rest selectable from the Shift menu). Each scene has 12 customizable pages, with 16 controls on each page. This means a total of 192 parameter controls can be mapped per scene.

Furthermore, each control can have 2 destinations and 1 push action, giving you effectively up to 384 control targets per scene.

This flexibility allows you to control multiple synthesizers, effects, and modular systems from a single compact device.

Key Features#

Snapshot (A-B Morphing) Function#

You can set one encoder as a primary snapshot control and link multiple secondary controls to it. Save two states, A (lower limit) and B (upper limit), and simply turn the primary knob to seamlessly morph all linked parameters within their respective ranges.

This makes it easy to create dynamic sound transitions, such as simultaneously and smoothly varying multiple filter cutoffs or effect parameters.

Knob Recording#

The ability to record and play back encoder movements makes the E16 a powerful modulation generator. Capture knob movements in real time and loop them for complex automated performances.

Encoder Grouping (Groups)#

You can create up to 4 groups and link multiple encoders together. Controls within a group can have two roles:

• Primary Lead: Turning this knob causes all other knobs in the same group to change their values relatively
• Secondary Follower: Follows the lead knob while still allowing independent adjustment

The amount of influence (percentage) each follower receives from the lead can also be individually configured, enabling nuanced control.

Real-Time Feedback#

The OLED screen displays parameter values in real time. Each encoder's LED ring also provides visual feedback, allowing you to check current settings at a glance even on dark stages.

Preset Function#

Each scene has 16 preset slots, allowing you to save and recall the current state of all knobs. This is convenient for quickly switching settings during live performance or comparing different sound variations.

Instrument Definitions#

Through the OXI App, you can download pre-defined MIDI CC mappings for various synthesizers and effects. Compatible with devices from numerous manufacturers including Elektron, Korg, Moog, Arturia, Dave Smith Instruments, and Modal Electronics, it eliminates the need to manually set CC numbers. When you select an instrument definition, parameter names are automatically applied as well.

Connectivity#

OXI E16 offers diverse connectivity options for modern music production environments.

• USB-C port: For power supply (5V DC 1.7A) and MIDI USB communication. Can be powered from PC/Mac, mobile batteries, etc.
• 3.5mm TRS MIDI interface (Type A): 2 MIDI OUT + 1 MIDI IN. Each output can be configured as "Thru" to directly pass through received MIDI data
• Bluetooth MIDI support: Bluetooth 5.0 BLE bidirectional communication. Supports peripheral and central roles for wireless connection with mobile devices and tablets
